Tiszaörs is a small settlement of 1.800 inhabitants located in the Eastern part of Hungary, between the Hortobágy National Park and the Tisza Lake. The most famous feature of this small village located in the outskirts of that, the mineral bath providing 54 °C mineral water suitable for curing gynaecologic complaints, alleviating locomotor diseases and accelerating post-operative recovery. An other sight of the village is the small church built on top of the Calvary hill (“Kálvária-domb”) where a religion historic exhibition can be visited. The lodging house „Erika” was built in 1891 and was restored and furnished with modern conveniences in 1998. A secure parking place is provided for the guests within the yard. The house consists of 2 rooms (with two beds and an optional supplementary bed per room), a vestibule, a fully equipped kitchen, a shower bath and a separate lavatory. The grass-covered yard surrounded by fences provides secure area for the children to play following their pleasure, e.g. play in the sand or swing. An open-air fire-laying place is also available in the garden where the guests may cook or roast their favourite dishes. All of the basic services as food-products shop, restaurant, physician, dentist, post office, public telephone station, bank office of the Savings Bank („Takarékszövetkezet”) are available in the village. The favourable location of the village enables the visitors getting acquainted with the opportunities of the environs of Tiszaörs. Making excursions into the nearby villages as Tiszaigar, Nagyiván, Tiszafüred and the Tisza-Lake is suggested for the visitors of Tiszaörs, whatever happens. It is worth of visiting the arboretum planted into the sometime inundation area in the neighbouring village of Tiszaigar, the basic premise of the Hortobágy National Park in Nagyivány, where the hostelry of the National Park houses an ethnographical exhibition as well. The Hortobágy farmstead is worth of a complete day excursion as well since you may vivit the famous “nine opening” bridge of Hortobágy, the historic building of the tavern offering the characteristic dishes of the region, the herdsmen’ and shepherds’ Museum (“Pásztor Múzeum”) the herd taking a midday break and the reach bird kingdom of the region. The visitors interested in folk-arts may get acquainted with the pottery workshops in nearest town Tiszafüred, looking back on many-many years history and also may visit the region exhibition house. The Tisza Lake is a paradise for the lovers of water-sports as fishing, boating, ship-trip, surfing, etc. providing unlimited opportunities. Eger (80 kilometres distance from Tiszaörs), rich in baroque age historic buildings, or Debrecen (70 kilometres distance from Tiszaörs), the capital of the Hajdúság Region may be a target of a long range excursion. The lodging house provides an optimal place for relaxing for the lovers of provincial atmosphere.
