Resting among wine hills and wine cellars


The Inn in Nyúl, situated in the wine-growing area of Pannonhalma, Győr the town of rivers with its gentle amphitheatre of hills link together Kisalföld plains and the Bakony hills.

Via the M1 motorway and the "Nr82" main road to Veszprém, our hotel is only one hour’s journey from Budapest, Vienna, Bratislava or Lake Balaton. It is the happy combination of traditional Hungarian hospitaly, its gastronomic and wine culture and „Sons of the Wind“ Inn's idyllic vineyard setting which guarantees the guest’s peaceful stay, be it a business trip or holiday.

Transfers to and from the airport can be arranged on request.

There are 7 cleverly designed suites each with two rooms and equipped with shower, lavatory, TV, radio and telephone. There are 2 further family suites spacious enough to comfortably accomodate 8 guests with a living room, 3 bedrooms, bath and shower, lavatory, TV, telephone and radio. We also have a swimming pool, 2 tennis courts, volleyball and table tennis facilities and the chance to go cycling or walking on the hillside.

At your request we can make arrangements at the local aerodrome for flying and likewise for fishing and hunting. The beautiful hilly region of the Bakony makes it ideal for hiking (20 km); moving on we reach Csesznek, the knights’ fortress.

The nearest main town, Győr, the cultural centre of the region with its baroque city centre, thermal baths and shopping centres. Lake Balaton and its wine growing areas, the Káli cove and the Somló Hill (with the Wines of the Wedding-nights) are just an hour by car, and it is only 30 km to the fishing villages and 40 km to see the blue dyeing craft museum in Pápa.

The mansion

At the heart of the "Sons of the Wind" Inn (Szél Fiai Fogadó), a modern and harmoniously designed inn that incorporates an ancient adobe house into its construction, remains the spirit of the old hill of Nyúl and the yesterday’s world of isolated farm houses, rendering the inn apart from its neighbouring guest houses. A romantic „wine way“ amongst the wine cellars and through vineyards leads to the newly constructed apartment hotel of 44 beds where our guests are guaranteed a peaceful stay.

The restaurant of the Inn


The characteristically Hungarian village style restaurant maintains the tradition of the blue dyeing craftsmanship. The catering recalls the type of family atmosphere now all too often forgotten of the „Heuriger“ style, well known from the age of the monarchy.

  

  

In winter "grandma's cooking", welcomes guests with tasty delicacies baked in an earthenware stove whilst the celebratory meals of the farmers and gypsies bring to mind the flavours of the past. From spring till autumn on mild evenings guests can enjoy barbecued meals in the gardens. We guarantee that everybody, including the wine connoisseur and beer lover alike, will find something that suits his taste from our own wine cellar of mature wines, quality beers on tap and a wide variety of champagnes and other drinks. Thus we bring together the perfect conditions for reunions with friends, celebrations, business meetings, garden parties and sophisticated receptions.

The wine cellar 

It is a blending of a thousand years of vineyards and wine culture in the Pannonhalma region the superb positi­oning of the hills of Nyúl and last but by no means least the local wine-growers’ proficiency and knowledge that all produce the famous crisp white wines and full bodied reds. A visitor to our wine cellar can sample our own personal wine and excellent wines of the region too. Our “artisanship” wines are produced in a traditional and natural way with fermentation in wine casks and have been awarded with prices in form of special awards, silver and gold tags by competitions in our region. Our visitors are invited on a wine-tasting tour where selected wines ranging from Tokaj to Villány from the best cellars in Hungary can be sampled to gain an insight into the wonderfully diverse flavours of the world famous Hungarian wines.

During the wine tour, the host will enlighten the guests about wine appreciation, the history of wine and how best to handle it. Our connections in the wine connoisseur world enable us to organize visits to wine cellars in all the wine growing areas, as well as wine tasting tours and help in procuring rare old wines.
