Gyula, the historical spa resort rich in monuments, is situated in the southeastern part of Hungary, by the Hungarian–Romanian national border. Its history goes back to the 14th century.
The town accommodated the only surviving, Gothic brick castle of Central Europe, erected in flatlands back in the 15th century, which in the summer hosts theatric performances.

Being deservedly famous for its medicinal waters, the four-star Castle Baths offer medicinal and adventure pools to guests alongside with a water paradise for children, a wave pool, giant and kamikaze shoots, as well as a competition pool that can also be used in wintertime. The wellness center awaits the guests preferring relaxation and healthy lifestyle with adventure pools, sauna and steam cabins.

Hunguest Hotel Erkel*** hosts guests in the Castle Garden, next to the boating lake and the Castle, in a friendly atmosphere, with favourable rates. Via a covered corridor, the Castle Baths can be accessed directly from the hotel.

The western rooms of the Hotel offer a compelling view to the Castle and the boating lake in front. Munácsy wing has double-bed and triple-bed standard rooms together with spacious, air-conditioned superior rooms.
We serve the comfort of our guests with disabilities with 5 air-conditioned rooms. Our rooms are equipped with TV sets, refrigerators and telephones. Our superior rooms – in addition to the amenities of the standard rooms – feature safe deposit boxes and DVD players. There are smoking and non-smoking rooms, as well.

Hunguest Hotel Erkel is situated in the Castle Garden of Gyula, in a pleasant atmosphere, girdled with ancient trees, in the neighbourhood of the boating pond and the Gyula castle. It is directly connected with the Castle Spa which has won the 4-star qualification of the Hungarian Baths Association. The Munkácsy Building***, the 3-star wing of Hunguest Hotel Erkel, with 122 rooms was renovated in 2001. Beyond this, the 4-star Dürer Building can be found which is going to be inaugurated in spring of 2011. This wing contains 177 standard double rooms, 5 suites and 4 rooms for disabled guests. Every room is equipped with air-conditioner, LCD TV, minibar, telephone, direct Internet access and safe.  Non-smoking floors and rooms await our guests. Most rooms equipped with balcony and bathroom with showers command beautiful view to the Castle Garden and the boating pond.

Unforgettable tastes contribute to the guests’ experiences. Beside Hungarian specialities, our Restaurant Orchidea offers tastes of international cuisine for gourmands and local specialities, as well. In our chef’s offer reform and vegetarian dishes can be found, but – as far as possible - individual wishes can also be fulfilled. In offer of the bellyful smorgasbord – breakfast and dinner, as well - everybody finds to its taste.

In our Café ’Violin' coffee specialities and a wide range of excellent drinks are offered. In addition, specialities of the Hungarian wine regions are launched.

Castle Spa – which has 72 degree thermal water coming from 2005 m-depth – provides unforgettable pleasure to our guests’ relaxation, recreation and medical treatment. Apart from different pools for cure and pleasure and a pool for swimming races opened throughout the year, water paradise for children and adults’ sauna park available even for overnight can be enjoyed.

Our Harmony Wellness Centre is opening in  2011. Leisure pool, different saunas (like Finnish, steam, bio and infra), solarium, aromatic cabin, salt cabin and pampering services in pool will be available for our guests. Wonders supplied by massages contribute to the more perfect formation of physical and spiritual harmony.

Our conference room called ‘Hunyadi’ has a capacity of 40-290 and is equipped with extensive technical support. Successful conferences, business meetings, family occasions, exhibitions and weddings can be organized with demanding care and professional services.    

Each section rooms: Erzsébet, Beatrix and Corvin have a capacity of 50 people in theatre style.
