About our city: Esztergom

The territory of the ancient royal town, Esztergom has been inhabited since the prehistoric age. The city, also called as the pearl of the Danube-bend, was among others a strategic protector against the Barbaricum. Esztergom became the first capital of Hungary and the birthplace of Hungary"s first king St. Stephen as well.

Esztergom is the headquarters of the Catholic Church in Hungary founded in 1001 by St. Stephen. The 150 years old Basilica, the cathedral of archdiocese, is the largest place of worship in Hungary. The marks and characteristics of the Baroque and Neo-classic period can also be found in this town. The narrow streets of "Water-town", the Christian Museum, which has the largest ecclesiastical art collection in Hungary, the rebuilt Széchenyi Square or the chapel of the St. Thomas Hill all remind visitors of ages and cultures from the 15th century.
To spend your time in the town, you can take walks between the historical monuments, visit our museums, or have a relax at the new termal spa called Aquasziget (Aquaisland).

Hotel GRANTE is located between Esztergom and Esztergom-Kertváros adjacent to main road no. 111. Esztergom downtown is about 5 km far from the Hotel, the sport airport is just in a stone-throw.

Our restaurant "Caffe GRANTE" offers the best coursen from the international and Hungarian cuisine, and a wide range of excellent wines. The mediterranean colors of the walls and the friendly staff provide a warm and snug environment. The terrace is open from March until October. Free parking in the large parking area is available in the whole year.

The restaurant is open for corporate parties and meetings up to 80 people.
